The reason I feel so strongly that a writer's website should be
professional and well-designed is because I'm a writer, too.
I've been writing stories and trunk-worthy manuscripts for the last five
years. I'm not published, yet, but I'm not giving up.
You can read about my adventures in writing at my writing blog,
Outdriving My Headlights.
I'm also a techie at heart and I've always
enjoyed graphic design, so after I saw too many horribly designed
writers' sites, it was just a natural leap for me to want to do
something about it.
All writers need a professionally designed, gorgeous website to promote
themselves and their writing. I believe that. So I do it.
And I love the work.
I'm a member of Romance Writers of America,
Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers, Colorado Romance Writers, Wise Women Web
Designers and the Women Designer's Group.
I'm also a member of the
Crabtree & Evelyn and Godiva Rewards programs, but that's probably not
as relevant.
Favorite Quote:
"Do something
every day that scares you." (Eleanor Roosevelt)
I write fiction, which scares
the crap out of me, and I try to push myself in other ways, too.
I'm always learning new ways to market online or establish an author
brand through techie means. I'm also learning Spanish and taking dance classes.

Office Decor:
Two prints by Brian Andreas, three white boards, an "I heart Colorado
Ballet" sticker, a Broncos calendar, and a green worry stone from
Lookout Mountain, Tennessee.
Obsessions:

serious crush on Gordon Ramsey)
Personal Philosophy:
"Leap and the net will appear." - Zen saying
Who I work well with:
Anyone who loves writing. If you love the written
word and/or you love telling stories, I bet that you and I will get
along just fine. If you're in this business for the long haul and
you want a website that will help you build a loyal fan base, we'll get
along great. If you listen to rock music, love to travel, and
enjoy beer and grown up cheese, you can be my new best friend.
"Chase your
dream, not the competition." - Britain's Got Talent contestant
And since I can't do it all myself... meet the tech department:
Walt P. Brown Walt's love of computers was
formed early when he started trading P.E. time in elementary school for
computer time to t write code on an Apple IIe. With an extensive
background in Visual Basic, SQL, ASP, PHP, and various other acronyms,
Walter is always up for the next challenge. Whether a web
application, database, or custom software is your need, he's happy to
help you with the best solution.
Currently in the Playlist:
Playlist? What happened to
my CD player? And where'd all my records go?
Office Decor:
Five computers and various parts,
autographed Bobby Bowden and Charlie Ward pictures, a Schecter C-1006
Guitar, comic books, baseball cards, and "carefully organized" stacks of
paper.
Personal Philosophy:
If there was one thing that I couldn't
give up, it would be my online world.
I love the friends I've made there, the ability to reach out to other people, and inspirational blogs
like 37 days and
The
Happiness Project.
One Laptop per Child
gives the gift of the internet by giving sturdy, inexpensive laptops with satellite capability to schools
in developing nations.
They start as low as $199, but you can donate as little as $5. Any gift is deeply appreciated. Or, if you're
interested, you can add a banner ad like this one to your site.
And if technology isn't your thing, that's cool. Just give to another charity that fits with a passion of your own.
